Outside the Castle

The Lake The Lake is large and inviting during the summer to tickle the tentacles of the giant squid, and in the winter to skate across the frozen sheet of ice that covers it when the days turn cold. Whomping Willow Planted only six years before, the Whomping Willow is still relatively new to Hogwarts, drawing morbidly fascinated students to the base of the tree, dodging away from it’s flailing branches. There is a narrow corridor in the library that leads to a small, dark room. There are no desks or chairs in this room. In fact, there is nothing at all in this room save a large mirror stationed in the center of it. This is the Mirror of Erised and shows the looker what they long for the most.

A password is needed to get the Chimera to step aside and allow people to enter, though sometimes it can get a little stubborn and will refuse to let people in even with the correct password. That's what happens when you get an animal to moderate passageways.

The dreaded rules. Yes, fear them and follow them. If you don't like them, too bad. They're written in stone. All applicants must read before they apply!

This is where all the storylines and recent happenings will go. Make sure to check up on this forum frequently so you know what's happening around the RPG.

Finally. This is where players will submit their character applications, but only after they have thoroughly read through rules, storylines, and made sure to completely follow the application format. Please do not post unfinished applications here.

All student applications will be moved here after they have been accepted. These applications will be locked after acceptance, so no player will be allowed to alter their application in anyway without the permission of an admin. Sorry guys.

The accepted applications of staff members, Death Eaters, Ministry Officials, and the like will be moved here. Like the student applications, these will be locked after being accepted and only those with permission from and admin may change them.

Out of Character

Test out all of your wonderful little signatures and personal pictures here. Please don't make them exteremly large and please don't post your tests anywhere else. That will be considered vandalism and will be dealt with accordingly.

Have any neat poems, fanfiction, or artwork? Or maybe you made an excellent batch of icons or some cool graphics. Post it here for all to see and marvel over. Once again, negative comments are not acceptable unless the artist doesn't mind.

This is the only place you can plug another Rpg. Anywhere else and it will be considered vandalism (again). So here's your chance to put another site in the spotlight, as long as it's not an adult site. None of that please.

Sorry. This is for us admins only. Behind these closed doors, many important and scandalous things will be discussed along with the plot for the year. As hard as you try to use those Extendabl Ears, though, you won't hear anything. Makes you try even harder, huh?

Character Resources

Start a journal for your character to jot down his or her deepest, darkest secrets... Or perhaps just the newest "crush-of-the-week." Whatever is important to your character can be put into the pages of their diaries.

Has someone not replied to an important post? Need to catch a certain character to tell them something? Or maybe there's just a poor kid sitting alone at the lake. From lonely post alerts to random owls to friends, this is the place to post them. Notes can be in character or out.

From spells to wands, this is where the information on various magic-related thngs will be. Check it out and make sure you character's got his spells right.

Don't be a square, join a club! What better way to get to know your fellow students than joining a club? Some clubs require a tryout, but most are open to the general public.

Do your characters need to send a letter to anothers? Do they need to inform their closest friends about their summer flings of passion or disaster? Well, have them send a letter by owl post to let them all know!

Need some friends for your character here? Want to plan something that happened in the last few years at school between your character and another's? Post a request here!

Outside the Castle

Step outside onto the sloping lawns of the Hogwarts Grounds to get out of the chaos of the castle. The Grounds are the largest part of Hogwarts, spreading from the castle down to the lake, and to the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Many miraculous as well as dangerous plants can be found inside of the Greenhouses. Greenhouses two, three, and four are off limit with the exception of classes, but Greenhouse one can be entered any time of the day upon the whim of the students.

Beware! Enter the Forbidden Forest only at your own risk. Like the name suggests, the forest is off limits to students for dangerous beasts reside in the forest, waiting for a midnight snack to come sneaking along the darkened pathways.

Here exciting Quidditch matches take place, with a stadium large enough to accomodate all of the students at Hogwarts. Don't miss out on the matches! They're always a great deal of fun!

Dungeons

The eery Potions Classroom is found at the lowest part of the castle in one of the most spacious dungeons. In Potions, students can learn to bewitch the mind, ensnare the senses, and even put a stopper to death.

Many dangerous and forbidden Potions ingredients can be found in the Private Stores, making the room off limit to students unless they are in the company of the Potions Professor. This fact, however, doesn’t usually stop students from breaking in to make forbidden potions.

The Kitchens of Hogwarts are staffed with hundreds of house elves who are always busy preparing meals for the day. Hungry students can sneak out and get a snack from the oh-so-willing elves whenever they please.

Slytherin

Here reside the cunning and ambitious students at Hogwarts. Many green couches are spread throughout the Slytherin Common Room in front of the warm cackling fire where Slytherin students can unwind and relax.

The dormitories of the Slytherin students are found just oustside the Common Room, to the right for the girls dormitories, and to the left for the boys dormitories. No boys in the girls rooms after hours!

Hufflepuff

Here dwells the honest, just, and loyal students at Hogwarts. The Common Room is decorated with bright, honey colored furniture, along with a large fireplace with a magnificent picture of the Hufflepuff crest above the mantle.

Two doors are set at the far wall of the Common Room, the right leading to the girls dormitories, and the left leading the the boys dormitories. No boys allowed in the girls dorms after hours.

Ground Floor

The enormous room that claims the name the Entrance Hall is a wonderful welcome into the castle of Hogwarts. Large enough to fit a regular sized house at least twice, many students can be packed into the Entrance Hall for special occasions.

Here the teachers can escape from all of the whining and complaining students. However, if a student needs to see one of their teachers, here is a safe place to check.

Here the cantankerous squib of a caretaker can be found, stroking his equally evil cat Mrs. Norris. Filch is rather infamous for having a couple of bottles of firewhiskey always in one of his cabinets...

First Floor

Here magical students can come to study Muggles, and the lifestyles that they live. This being an elective, not all students are required to take this class.

Here students can study Dark Magic, ferocious beasts, and how to defend themselves from the worst evil that exists in the magical world.

No matter who the teacher is, it's considered a dull drone that exists in the History of Magic classroom. Goblin rebellions and turnings points in history have fascinated very few.

Here the stern old Transfiguration Professor, as well as Head of Gryffindor, Minerva McGonagall can be found when she's not in class or in the Staff Room.

Second Floor

Where the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor resides. It faces south with a window that looks out over the Quidditch Pitch and the lake.

The entrance is hidden behind a statue of a gargoyle that will only leap aside when the correct password has been stated. There is then a moving spiral staircase that a person will ride to Dumbledore's round office. Among the things inside are the Headmaster's phoenix, Fawkes, and the Sorting Hat.

Third Floor

Fourth Floor

There is a narrow corridor in the library that leads to a small, dark room. There are no desks or chairs in this room. In fact, there is nothing at all in this room save a large mirror stationed in the center of it. This is the Mirror of Erised and shows the looker what they long for the most.

Fifth Floor

Sixth Floor

The classroom often has many cages along the walls filled with various plain or exotic animals, depending on the lesson. This class is taught by the head of Gryffindor, Professor McGonagall, so watch where you tread.

Various hallways and corridors wind throughout the sixth floor. The floor and the walls are stone and lit by torches. There are windows on some of the walls, but don't count on it. The corridors often get quite cold though, so keep warm during the winer.

Seventh Floor

Where the head of the Ravenclaw house resides. His office is the thirteenth window from the right of the West Tower.

A magical room that is only there when someone is in need of it. The Room of Requirement bends to the needs of whatever person enters. The door is located opposite the painting of Barnabas the Barmy trying to train trolls for a ballet.

Located in the North Tower on the seventh floor, the entrance to the classroom is a circular trapdoor in the ceiling. When the time comes, the professor will lower a silvery ladder, allowing students to enter.

Gryffindor

Gryffindors are often known for their courage, thus the fiercesome lion is their symbol. Their colors are red and gold and the entrance to their tower is located on the seventh floor behind the painting of the Fat Lady.

Ravenclaw

With the eagle as their symbol, the Ravenclaws are intelligent and eager to learn. Their colors and blue and bronze and their common room is located in a tower at the westside of the castle.

Towers

This is where the Astronomy lessons are held every Wednesday night at midnight. It is the tallest tower at Hogwarts and is more or less located directly above the front entrance of the castle.

As suggested, this tower is the northmost tower of Hogwarts. It is also where Divination professor resides. A long, winding staircase leads students up to a landing where there is a circular trapdoor on the ceiling that leads to the Divination classroom.
